BARRIER LAKE
At only one hour away from downtown Calgary, and only 10 minutes off the Trans Canada highway, Barrier Lake is a super convenient option with very easy access to parking, bathrooms, and of course the water. This is a large body of water, with many viewpoints and areas to explore!
UPPER KANANASKIS LAKE
Being just up the road from Lower Kananaskis Lake, this is another large body of water that is surrounded by mountain vistas, hiking trails, and amazing tree lines. Thereβs even an island we can explore, because itβs only accessible by water! Truly the best bang for your buck when it comes to landscapes.
LOWER KANANASKIS LAKE
Lower Kananaskis Lake offers beautiful views and lovely shorelines to paddle along side. This paddle is only about 20 minutes closer to Cochrane than Upper Kananaskis Lake, however it offers very different landscape views while being just below the Upper Lake. Itβs quite a large body of water, yet we paddle and explore the North end, staying sheltered for much of the paddle.

βI recently took Kelsey's Intro to SUP course and it was wonderful. Her ability to make everyone feel welcome and safe, all while providing us with a great deal of information we will need was superb. I am confident the skills I learned with her will serve me well as I spend more time on my SUP.
I would highly recommend anyone wanting to learn the basics, or even brush up on things they may already know, to take one of her sessions. Phenomenal value for money!β
-Allison G.
βKelsey is amazing! I took intro SUP lessons with her, and it was definitely one of the best days of my summer. She is knowledgeable, patient, and really, really fun. She gave me plenty of room to learn at my own speed and to ask many questions. If you have any interest in SUP-ing (at any level), I highly recommend you reach out to her. 10/10. πβ
