This clinic introduces the novice to paddling a paddleboard on easy (Class I) rivers. The emphasis is on mastering the fundamentals of river paddling, along with a strong grounding in river safety and safe paddleboard practices.
There is no certificate or pass/fail evaluation involved in Skills Clinics. Please look at taking a Skills Course if you require or want a certification proving you accomplished a certain paddle board skill level

The River 1 SUP Skills Clinic is perfect for the individual who wants to take their paddle boarding to the next level, and learn how to utilize their flatwater skills in a moving water environment. This is a full day clinic, designed to really get the participant practising their paddle strokes in relation to class 1 rivers.
You will need to have spent a decent amount of time practising all components of the Flatwater 1 and 2 SUP Skills Clinic content before taking this clinic.

Some topics covered include:
-river appropriate gear and equipment
-hand signals, river reading and hazard assessment
-throwbag use
-front ferry
-eddy turns
-falling off and remounting your board in moving water

Flatwater SUP Skills Clinic completion required to take this clinic

Typical course length is 6-8 hours.
Minimum 1 person, maximum 4.
Ages 16+
Location: Bow River, Cochrane, Alberta
**Location and/or date may change due to weather or other factors.
Must provide own river paddle board.
Quick release leashes, paddles, PFD’s, wetsuits, watershoes, helmets, and splash jackets are provided.
