Multiday River SUP Camping Clinic

CA$900.00
Only 4 available

If you want to experience a fully supported multi day river trip while practising river paddling skills, this is the adventure for you.

Over three days and two nights, we’ll paddle approximately 72km of the North Saskatchewan River. Our goal: dial in our current river skills and introduce new ones. And we get to do this while camping along beautiful shorelines, with all your food and camping equipment provided for you! Think of this as a fully guided and fully provided river SUP boot camp.
If you have taken a River 1 SUP Course or Clinic and want more instruction and practice, this experience is for you!
If you haven’t taken one, I am offering a Clinic on June 5th and June 12th, which will lead perfectly into this experience

This event is in collaboration with Canadian Rockies Escapes, a Nordegg based adventure company run by Brett Pawlyk, specializing in all things David Thompson country. From the water to the mountains, they’re your go-to for knowledge, training, and experiences. Their values align with what Kelsey’s Caravan works so hard to offer. At Canadian Rockies Escapes, you’ll be welcomed like old friends and treated to an adventure that feels personal, not packaged.

What To Expect
Day 1: meet at the put in (Saunders Rec Area), organize and pack gear, and launch into the first 24km of paddling to our first camp. Review of basic skills like eddie turns, ferries, river signals and communication. This is an easier section of river to warm up!

Day 2: the river becomes faster and more dynamic. There are great opportunities to introduce and work on surfing, practising skills in faster current with stronger eddie lines, and self rescues/partner rescues. Skills like jet ferries, throw bagging a moving target, changing foot positions, paddling through cresting waves, and more will be covered. We will camp at a perfect spot where laps on a section of river can be had all evening (a lovely place called the Devil’s Elbow!)

Day 3: we experience the most whitewater on this last day, for an amazing finale. Folks will take turns leading the group and reading the river themselves, choosing lines based on their comfort level and personal challenge. We will finish the trip just upstream of the Rocky Mountain House campground, which is across from the Brierlies Rapid, a locally renowned surf spot for kayakers and SUPers alike. After unpacking and organizing our gear, we can surf at Brierlies for the rest of the day for those who are keen.

Full itinerary, shuttle details, and packing list sent after booking.
